EVIQ has officially launched its first public electric vehicle (EV) fast-charging site at ROSHN Front in Riyadh. This pioneering site features two state-of-the-art DC high-power chargers, capable of serving up to four cars simultaneously with a power output exceeding 100 kW per charger, enabling EV drivers to quickly recharge their vehicles.

EVIQ, a joint venture between the Public Investment Fund (PIF) and Saudi Electricity Company (SEC), marks a significant milestone with this launch, underscoring a major advancement for the EV industry in Saudi Arabia. The initiative aligns with the Kingdom’s Vision 2030, aimed at accelerating the adoption of electric vehicles and enhancing public access to EV infrastructure.

Mohammad Bakr Gazzaz, CEO of EVIQ, remarked, “This is a landmark moment for EVIQ and a significant first step in our ambitious plan to deploy 5,000 fast chargers across 1,000 strategic locations in the Kingdom by 2030. Our inaugural site at ROSHN Front provides the public with the most advanced EV charging technology available, making it possible to recharge vehicles swiftly and efficiently.”

David Grover, CEO of ROSHN Group, added, “ROSHN Front, with its monthly footfall of over 800,000 visitors, is an iconic destination in Riyadh and the perfect location for EVIQ’s first public EV charging facility. As SEDRA develops, adding 30,000 modern homes, it will incorporate extensive EV charging infrastructure, supporting Riyadh’s first humanized, integrated community. We are excited to partner with EVIQ, leveraging cutting-edge technologies and fostering collaborations that enhance urban living.”

The introduction of high-power fast chargers addresses a critical challenge faced by many EV owners in Saudi Arabia—long charging times and a scarcity of high-power charging options. This new facility represents a significant advancement in EV infrastructure, bolstering confidence in electric vehicle ownership and usage within the Saudi community.
